The Performance

Hap Palmer is a pioneer of the integration of music and movement in the area of early childhood education. His performance engages the audience in a multimedia/multidisciplinary interactive adventure featuring his most beloved songs including Round the World Hello, What a Miracle, Can Cockatoos Count By Twos, Colors In Motions, Weekly Rap, and more. The performance also includes bilingual songs (English/Spanish), creative movement demonstrated by professional dancers, and audience participation in moving and singing. Hap Palmer's songs enhance the development of motor skills, language acquisition, reading readiness, and math concepts as well as nurture the imagination and encourage creative problem solving. His widespread popularity in schools and day-care centers for over twenty years has made him a living legend within the teaching community. Hap Palmer has received numerous awards for his recordings and videos including several Parents' Choice Gold Awards, National Parenting Publication Gold Award, and the Music Review Award of Excellence.

PDW at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts

Led by Hap Palmer himself, the hands-on activities of this Professional Development Workshop will take the participants into the artist's creative process and teaching method, using his CDs, magic scarves, list of words encouraging creative movement, and plenty of colors. No formal music or dance training is required to benefit from this workshop. Participants with limited mobility will have the opportunity to acquire tools allowing them to lead students in meaningful creative movement sessions without having to dance themselves. A written curriculum guide will be distributed to facilitate implementation of activities in classrooms.
