The Performance

From the thundering rhythms of the "Chang-go Chum" (Hourglass Drum Dance) to the graceful motions of the "Hwa Kwan Moo" (Flower Crown Dance), this ensemble brings the intriguing and beautiful dance and music of Korea to the audience. Its repertoire alternates between dances, dancers performing music, and instrumental-only pieces. Artistic Director Don Kim, Ph.D., shares comments that provide invaluable insights into the aesthetic sensibility of the Korean people, while putting each piece into its historical context. The first performance will be tailored for grades 6 to 12 and the second performance for grades K to 5. Founded in 1973 under the artistic direction of Dr. Kim, this Southern California-based company is internationally recognized for the authenticity and purity of its dancing style.
