Official certified transcript(s) from private, public, or home-schools in Southern California, showing a minimum GPA of 3.0 as of September 2008. Transcripts must arrive in a sealed envelope, stamped or signed by a school administrator
Principal’s name and signature on Application Form
Essay of Intent by the applicant describing his/her educational and professional aspirations
(Essay must be typed and be 150 – 250 words in length)
A brief autobiography (2 to 3 paragraphs)
Two letters of recommendation from teachers, school administrators, or professional instructor
One photograph (the photograph need not be professionally produced)
An audio-visual recording of your audition piece, not to exceed six (6) minutes in length. Acceptable formats are VHS or DVD only.
Please note: The recordings need not be professionally produced; however, they will be used for the first two rounds of judging. All recordings become the sole property of the Friends of Arts Education and will not be returned.

Review Process
The Friends will convene a panel of professional artists and arts educators to review all applications and recommend finalists in Classical Voice, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theater (Voice).
Finalists will be required to perform and interview in person before the panel on of judges on either Wednesday, December 3 or Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. From these auditions the panel will determine placements, if applicable. Essays and GPAs will also be considered.
Awards
Winners are eligible to receive a minimum of $1,000 in scholarship funds.
A $12,000 scholarship may be awarded for exceptional artistry. If awarded, the $12,000 scholarship is allocated in annual increments of
$3,000 over a period of four years, contingent upon continued pursuit of performing arts training.
