The mission of the Friends of Arts Education’s Performing Arts Scholarship program is to support and encourage local high school seniors by providing scholarships to deserving students who wish to pursue a career in the performing arts. The program began in 1999 and has been a tremendous success. In the last ten years, we have awarded $115,750 to 71 students.
The scholarship winners are selected by a panel of professional artists and arts educators. They are given the opportunity to work with professional artists and to perform on the main stage of the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.
The 2009 Performing Arts Scholarship Awards Presentation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 7:00p.m. at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance by calling (562) 916-1296.
