Mythili Prakash & Ensemble
Grades 4 - 12
March, 21 2011 9:30 & 11:30 AM
The Performance
Mythili Prakash is recognized as one of the world’s leading young exponents of Indian dance. Her inventive approach to classicism has revitalized the Bharata Natyam style through expressive theatricality. The Bharata Natyam style is only fully executed when a performer excels in dance technique, musicality, and drama at the same time. The music is an integral part of the Bharata Natyam style and Mythili’s musical ensemble performs each composition with technical precision and heart. Choreographies are intertwined with instrumental pieces. Throughout the performance, each piece is explained and put into its historical and cultural context. This performance is an extraordinary opportunity for students to be introduced to some of India’s finest art forms and artists.
This performance is graciously sponsored by B&B Stables / Bob & Mary Buell
